Home Improvement Books Provide Faulty Instructions

If you like to tackle home projects, steer clear of a book that might lead you astray. Home Improvement Books issued by Oxmoor House, Inc. of Birmingham, Ala. are being recalled due to instructional errors that could lead to electrical shock or a fire hazard. The Consumer Product Safety Commission would not say exactly which set of diagrams or instructions is the issue.

About 951,000 of the books provided wiring instructions and technical diagrams that could lead consumers to incorrectly install or repair electrical wiring. The recall covers books dating back to 1975. There may be slight wording or diagram changes over the years, but the instructions remain faulty. The books retailed at home improvement stores and bookstores nationwide for between $13 and $35.

Consumers should immediately stop using the books and contact Oxmoor House for a full refund. For additional information, contact Oxmoor House toll-free at (866) 696-7602 anytime, or visit the firm’s website at www.sunsetrecall.com.
