Vicks Nasal Spray Recalled After Bacteria Found

Proctor & Gamble, Co. has recalled about 120,000 bottles of Vicks Sinex nasal spray due to potential contamination. The company is conducting the recall as a precaution after finding bacteria during routine testing.

Testers discovered small amounts of the B. cepacia bacteria in nasal spray being manufactured in Gross Gerau, Germany. Three lots of the spray sent to the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany are being recalled. Cincinnati-based P&G is contacting regulatory authorities in each of these countries.

Although the B. cepacia poses little risk to healthy people, the contaminated lots could harm those with weakened immune systems or chronic lung problems. If you have one of the affected bottles, throw it out and contact P&G for a refund or replacement. The numbers of the affected lots are:

In the U.S.: 9239028831

In the U.K: 9224028832

In Germany: 9224028833
