Book Deal for Obama’s Half-Brother

George Obama, youngest son of President Barack Obama’s father, signed a book deal with publisher Simon & Schuster last week. George Obama, 27 years old, lives in Huruma, Kenya where he works as a community organizer, like his famous half-brother once did.

The book, tentatively titled “Homeland,” will describe George Obama’s life which began just six months before his father’s death. As a teenager he was involved in criminal activity, but he managed to transform himself into a leader and advocate for the poor communities of Huruma.

David Rosenthal, Simon & Schuster publisher and executive vice president praised Obama. “Even had George Obama not been our President’s half brother, his story is moving and inspirational. It is an object lesson in survival, selflessness and courage.”

The book will be co-authored by journalist Damien Lewis. It will join books from other relatives of President Obama including his half sister Maya Soetoro-Ng and brother-in-law Craig Robinson.
